Welcome

Each summer, the Office for First Year Programs (FYP) offers a conference for the campus community to address key academic, personal and social issues for students transitioning from high school to UConn. Last year, FYP partnered with UConn Early College Experience to include high school teachers and administrators in the discussion. Based on the response to last year's conference and the national debate on high school student preparation, we continue in the annual tradition of addressing ways to improve the high school to college transition.

Many of today's high school students feel confident that they are prepared for university life... but are they? Recent studies reported in the Chronicle of Higher Education suggest that university professors differ from high school instructors regarding the level of student readiness. UConn's First Year Experience and Early College Experience programs invite you to attend a colloquium that will bring secondary and university educators together to discuss best practices for student success and link university expectations with high school student preparation.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for secondary personel. Questions about CEUs can be directed to 860-486-1045.
